On your first visit to our office, we will help acquaint you with our office staff and facility, and we will perform a thorough orthodontic examination to help you better understand your orthodontic needs and the treatment options that are available.

We understand that all of our patients are unique individuals. They range in age from 3-year-old preschoolers to grandparents in their 60’s and 70’s. They are male and female, young and old, students, parents, athletes, business men and women, professionals, and retirees. Just about anyone who wants to improve their smile is a candidate for modern orthodontics today. However, in our office at least, that doesn’t mean that everyone will be treated the same. Each individual patient has his or her own concerns, worries and needs.

It is during this first visit that we will start to determine precisely what your special concerns might be. What exactly is it about your smile or your bite that you want us to improve? What are your expectations for your orthodontic treatment?

Most people will answer these questions with answers like, “I want my crooked teeth straight,” or “I want my bite to fit better.” While these answers might be our most common ones, they might not be YOUR answers.

During your first visit, in addition to our orthodontic examination, we will be making some digital photographs that we can display on our computer screen for you to better see the conditions and problems we will be discussing. You will receive a copy of these photos along with a letter that summarizes our findings and our plans for treatment if treatment is needed.
